He has handled investigations in Afghanistan, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Pakistan, France, Switzerland, Cyprus, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, and Guyana, among many others.
Before starting his own practice, Smith headed North American Business Intelligence for a London-based international investigative firm. There, he worked on complex fraud, anti-corruption, compliance, and internal investigations in the U.S. and overseas. Prior to that, he was an investigator with an international practice serving clients in the US, Europe, and the Middle East.
Over his career, Smith has helped clients investigate international smuggling networks, theft and embezzlement, sexual harassment allegations, bribery and kickbacks, life insurance fraud, and numerous other matters. He has assisted the victims of misconduct, and helped to defend those unjustly accused of it.
Smith is an expert at recruiting and debriefing confidential sources, identifying witnesses, conducting interviews, surveillance operations, and liaising with US and international law enforcement and other government agencies.
